“Mama was my greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love.” – Stevie Wonder
At Sheltering Grace, we see first-hand the amazing things mothers do for their children – right from the time of pregnancy to their early years of motherhood. While there are countless reasons why mothers are so important, we would like to highlight three of them right here.
- If it wasn’t for your mother, you would not be breathing right now. This is especially true for pregnant women in trouble who had to make the hard choice of keeping their baby. Working with such women everyday shows us just how brave they are. If nothing else, their children have this to thank them for.
- Mothers are the most forgiving creatures on the planet. Few people in your life, personal or professional, will be as understanding and sympathetic towards you as your mother. So, we must be as patient as possible with our mother. We owe it to her to open our hearts to and drop any resentments we may have for her.
- A mother will make sacrifices for her children that few people in the world would make for someone else. Not many people are willing to do for another human being what a mother will do for her kids without second thoughts. Always let her know you appreciate her for this.
Of course, these are just three reasons why mothers are so important. There’s no way to sum up all the wonderful ways in which our mothers make our lives so much better. The most important thing we can do is show nothing but love for our mothers.
Sheltering Grace Ministry, Ltd. is a 501(c)3 Ltd. non-profit ministry. We resolve the initial crisis of homelessness by providing a safe place to live during pregnancy and by providing mothers with the tools they need to improve decision-making, to enhance employment options, and increase family income, to act responsibly as the head of their household, and to develop the self-reliance to progress to permanent independent living. Please join us in renewing and rebuilding the lives of these brave women – #Be1of5000.
