“History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children.” – Nelson Mandela
Children are like budding blooms – full of life and hope for the future. They need to be nourished and cherished for them to grow and realize their true potential. Most of them are lucky, as they have loving parents like you who keep them warm and safe. But unfortunately, there is still a large number of kids who are at the mercy of adults, and being abused physically, mentally and emotionally.
Adverse experiences can cause childhood trauma which in turn has a long-lasting impact on the psyche of children. Very often children from homeless and unstable households easily fall prey to abuse. It becomes important to help single, homeless pregnant women and mothers to find stability in their life and empower them to become heads of households so that their children are protected from potential abusers.
Learning the signs of early child abuse and intervening in a productive and supportive manner is of utmost importance. Here is a wonderful article that details about how to help.
April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. Let us make use of this opportunity to help those who are vulnerable to this evil by creating safe environments. After all, it should not hurt to be a child.
Sheltering Grace Ministry, Ltd. is a 501(c)3 Ltd. non-profit ministry. We resolve the initial crisis of homelessness by providing a safe place to live during pregnancy and by providing mothers with the tools they need to improve decision-making, to enhance employment options, and increase family income, to act responsibly as the head of their household, and to develop the self-reliance to progress to permanent independent living. Please join us in renewing and rebuilding the lives of these brave women – #Be1of5000.
