Don’t Forget the Reason for the Season

“Each of us is an innkeeper who decides if there is room for Jesus.”Neal A. Maxwell

Close your eyes for a moment, and think about Christmas. What comes to your mind?

Our mind overflows with thoughts of Christmas presents, the Christmas Tree, wish lists, shopping lists, family dinners, and much more. Christmas has become the time of the year where we rejoice and make amends for not spending time with our family and friends.

But somewhere among this, there lies the real reason for the season. When we remember that, it also strikes us that there are a lot more to the celebrations than meets the eye. It is this thought which made Florida resident and mom Leigh M. Clark set out to make a major difference.

She realized that to cut through all the consumerism that dominates the season, there should be an equal amount of kindness in action. Read more to know about the some of her interesting ideas to make the season worthwhile.

This Christmas, why don’t you help us help God’s little angels who will be born in the cold Winter nights because their moms are homeless. With your help we can give a safe shelter and a warm crib to these little ones and a safe and secure environment to their mothers.

That’s where Florida resident and mom Leigh M. Clark set out to make a major difference, by paying off people’s layaways.

She works in marketing, but her passion is what she calls being a kindness activist — especially when it comes to teaching children gratitude.

“I think you teach kids the importance of kindness through leading by example. It’s important to show them opportunities to be ‘helpers’ in this world by creating family projects or experiences that give back,” Clark said as part of Megyn Kelly TODAY’s People Helping People series. “If we can only teach them one thing, it’s that a kind attitude is the easiest way to make a positive impact on the world.”
